  • Due to HIV/AIDS & malaria the median age in Uganda is 14.8 ("World in Figures -2006 edition published by The Economist)--lowest in the world.
  • Less than half of the children in this area receive education beyond 6th grade.
  • One-fifth of the students have lost one or both parents to HIV/AIDS.
  • Rural populations have almost no access to urban health clinics.
